![]() The shortage of new vehicles is pretty extreme, depending on where you live. To give context of the current state, the dealership I bought my 21CTR from new in June of last year sent out a blast email stating they finally got 8 new vehicles in total this month. TrueCar has Honda Civic Type R models for sale nationwide, including a 2023 Honda Civic Type R Hatchback Manual. My recommendation is to wait to buy a 10th gen about a month or so before the 11 gen officially goes live or try to get in early with a known good dealer on the civicx good dealer list. That being said, there will be some dealerships that will sell at MSRPP, but for at least the first year, you will have an extremely hard time getting one from these dealers before someone else does, especially with all the unknowns and shortages, as well as people selling 11 gen SIs for CTR prices. I think some people will sell their 10 gen in hopes of getting an 11 gen, and some will have buyers remorse thinking they bought a drag car and sell while they have the opportunity to get basically all their money back. I think they will come down by a small amount when the 11 gens come out, but I don't think it will be by much. The Type R isn't a typical car, though - low production numbers, high enthusiast demand. Everyone says don't pay above MSRP, wait as long as you can, prices are going to come back down, new car production is going to ramp back up, etc. ![]() I guess I am just curious what everyone thinks. Edmunds has 25,421 Used Honda Civics for sale near you, including a 2014 Civic EX Sedan and a 2021 Civic Type R Limited Edition Hatchback ranging in price. if I just buy a 2021 now, will it possibly hold almost all of it's value through the year anyway? but will I even be able to get one at 5K over? How long will I be fighting to find one that isn't prohibitively expensive? Another question I have is. The outgoing Type R was a 300+ horsepower SuperCivic with looks straight out of an anime, including a huge wing and aerodynamic bits attached to almost every conceivable surface. If I am willing to pay 5K over on a 2021, though, obviously I should be willing to pay 5K over on an 11th gen. For years, the Honda Civic Type R was almost mythical until it arrived in the United States in 2017. ![]() Like, right now, I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger for about 5K over MSRP on a 2021 with ~7K miles. Great Price Si 2017+ 5,000-20,000 2018+ 10,000-20,000 15,000-20,000 Coupe 2020+ EX-L 2015+ Exclude vehicles with Major Issues Reported One Owner Good Price LX Black White Gray Personal Use. In a perfect world, I would wait until the new Type R comes out, but I worry about how much I'll have to pay for a new one, not to mention that I'll be waiting most of this year (probably). Starting MSRP: 46,200 Key Features: 2.0-litre, 16 valve VTEC turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, 306-horsepower, 295 lb-ft of torque Brembo 4-piston. Do we think FK8s are going to drop down closer to MSRP, or is this going to be the state of the Type R for the unforeseeable future? I want to buy one so, so bad, but I'm not sure what to do.
